A Landing Page for an Ad Campaign: The Basics

Q8DM Blog

A landing page for a paid campaign is not a copy of your homepage. It is one page, built for one goal, matched to one ad. Most wasted ad budget does not disappear in the targeting. It disappears on a page that does not look like the ad the visitor just clicked.

Start with message match

If the ad says "delivery within 24 hours" and the page opens with "welcome to our company", the visitor feels they landed in the wrong place. Your headline should repeat the ad's promise in almost the same words. When Q8DM builds a campaign page, the ad copy is the first thing the team asks for, before logos and colours.

Build one page per campaign angle, or at least per distinct promise. A discount campaign and a service campaign should not share a page.

One goal, one button

The more buttons you add, the harder the decision gets. The page has one action: submit a form, call, or open WhatsApp. Everything else belongs in small footer links.

Above the fold has to work alone

Many visitors never scroll. The first mobile screen must carry three things: what you offer, who it is for, and what happens next. One clear image beats a moving slider, and early proof such as a number or a certification builds trust.

Keep the headline to two lines at most, with a single supporting line under it. Anything longer does not get read.

Form length

Every extra field costs you completions. Ask yourself about each one: do we need this before the call, or can we capture it during the call? Name and mobile number are usually enough to start, and each additional field needs a reason.

If a long form is genuinely justified, split it into two steps and show progress.

Mobile speed

Most campaign traffic arrives on a phone, often on a weak connection. Resize images properly, cut unnecessary scripts, and test the load time on a real handset rather than an office desktop. Every extra second costs visitors before they ever see the offer.

Tracking before spending

Do not switch the campaign on until you can see the result. Tag every ad link with UTMs, install the pixel, and confirm the conversion event actually fires with one test submission.

Only then can you answer which ad produced enquiries and which keyword produced visitors who never acted. Without that step, every later optimisation is a guess. This is the part Q8DM works on when building landing pages tied to paid campaigns.

Finally, do not copy a template and drop your logo on it. A page that converts matches its ad, asks for one thing, loads fast, and measures itself from day one.
