Generative AI at Work: What It Does Well and What It Cannot Do

Q8DM Blog

Most business owners in Kuwait have tried a generative AI tool. Impressive in a demo, unclear in daily work. The gap is not the technology. It is choosing the right tasks and keeping a person in charge of the result.

This guide covers where it helps, where it fails, and how to pilot it.

What generative AI does well

It works on language, at speed.

Where it fails, consistently

Facts. It produces numbers, dates, and names that look right and are not. It rarely says "I do not know".

Context. It does not know your prices, your delivery terms, or the customer who complained twice. Anything specific has to be supplied or checked.

Judgment. It will write a refund promise or a legal position without hesitation. Those are decisions, not drafts.

Where a small company gains real time

The value comes from repetitive writing a person already knows how to do. A workshop that issues quotations daily saves time on the cover note, not the pricing. Support saves the first sentence, not the resolution.

Keep the tool inside that boundary. Once it makes commitments to customers, you have moved from saving time to managing risk.

The two risks worth managing first

Privacy. Text pasted into a chat leaves the building. Customer lists, salary details, civil ID copies, and contract terms should never go into a tool that stores conversations, and free accounts are the worst place for them. Use company accounts and turn off training on your data where the option exists.

Accuracy. Every output that leaves the company needs a named person who read it. "The tool wrote it" is not an answer a customer will accept.

A pilot that fits in one month

Do not license the whole company. Start with one question you can answer.

A pilot that produces no decision was a demo with extra steps.

Policy basics before you widen access

One page is enough, if it is specific.

The short version

Generative AI is a strong writing assistant and a weak source of truth. Treat it that way and you get useful drafts and fewer mistakes. Treat it as an expert and you get confident errors in a professional tone.
